Montana AAP Chapter Newsletter Update- March 2010

Round-up 2010
Will be in Pray Montana at Chico Hotsprings for 2010.  Dates are Oct 1-3. We will start on Friday morning and go thru Sunday morning. You may want to go ahead and call for your reservations now. Be sure to tell them it is for the Montana AAP meeting for a better rate.    Watch the website for final details regarding speakers and the agenda specifics!!

NCE is also in October in San Francisco this year. It starts on the 2-5 so you can do both.

Round-up 2009
Thanks for all the support of Round-up 2009!  Thanks to Dr. Phillip Steele a Sports Medicine orthopedist and Dr. Kerry Ford a Pediatric Orthopedist  from Helena, Dr. Jeremiah Lysinger a new Pediatric Pulmonologist  from Billings as well as Dr. Coyle Pediatric Urologist from Seattle  and our very own Peds Rheumatologist  Dr. Schlesinger  who is now working out of  Seattle. This was a great series of lectures.

Young Physicians
Dr. Cathy White has successfully received a grant for support of our Young Physicians.   A dinner to socialize and network is in the works.   Please make sure to let Cathy know if you are a young physician – less than 40 or in practice for less than 5 years so that we can send you an invitation.   In addition, we are fortunate to have Angie (Valdez) Ostrowski as our young physicians representative.  Please see her article in this newsletter about up and coming events.

Medical Home
The Medical Home model, something that most physicians in Montana are already using, is now a focal point of health care reform.  This is a model developed by the AAP.  Currently there is increased funding that is available if your practice is in compliance with medical home guidelines.  Please check the website at www.medicalhomeinfo.org.

The Executive Committee
In 2010 we will have our biannual vote for members of the Executive Committee.  Current members are Dr. Kathy Rogers as president.   Sheila Idzerda, MD is vice-president.  Dr. Tess Augustine is Treasurer and Drs.  Susan Daniels and Pepper Henyon are members-at-large.   Please submit your name to Dr. Kathy Rogers if you are willing to run for any of the positions.   We are interested in making sure that we have wide-spread geographic diversity represented on the Executive Committee.    We will be voting for the position of Treasurer, Vice-President and Member-at-Large.
