Course Objectives
Following this Conference, the participants should be able to:

  1. Describe the current standard of care for late preterm infants.
  2. Review new research around infantile head cooling for the treatment of hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.
  3. Discuss the new national initiative to help pediatri-cians identify and treat pediatric patients suffering from hypertension.
  4. Identify and refer high risk renal conditions.
  5. Discuss prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and man-agement of Post Concussive Syndrome
  6. Discuss the benefits and risks of Cochlear Implant surgery
  7. Increase reimbursement through better working knowledge of how to use private insurances and work through the process of interface with Medicaid and CHIP
  8. Review new treatment option for seizures in chil-dren, including the use of new anti seizure medications
  9. Provide pediatricians with updated research sur-rounding vaccination risks and autism to increase number of pediatric vaccinations throughout the state
  10. Describe new skills in pediatric advanced life support

Accreditation: This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Northwest Research & Education Institute and the Montana Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics. The Northwest Research & Education Institute is accredited by the AACME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Credit designation: The Northwest Research & Education Institute designates this educational activity for a maximum of thirteen and one half (13.50) AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.™ Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Physician Assistants
AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for Category 1 credit from AOACCME, Prescribed credit from AAFP, and AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. Physician Assistants may receive a maximum of 13.50 hours of Category 1 credit for completing this program.
